Workshop Concert & Holiday Singalong

St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 1755 Clay @ Van Ness (San Francisco)

Join us as signers from the Baroque Music Workshop and members of the Lacuna Arts Ensemble perform Charpentier's Messe de minuit pour Noël with period instruments.The performance will be followed by our annual Holiday Singalong, featuring familiar Christmas carols as well as some lesser-known gems.

 

 

Singing in French with Sven Edward Olbash 

Mondays, Oct 14 & Nov 11, 6:30–9:30 p.m.

St. Mary the Virgin, 2325 Union @ Steiner (San Francisco)

An introduction to French diction and the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) with artistic director Sven Edward Olbash. Repertoire includes music by Saint-Saëns, Debussy, and Ravel, as well as Hindemith's Six Chansons on French texts of Rilke.

Maestro Olbash served for seven years as Director of Music at the French National Church and led his choirs in performances at St Léon and La Sainte Trinité (Paris). He studied French diction with Alison Voth (BU Opera Institute) and in master class with Pierre Vallet (Metropolitan Opera) and has acted as French diction consultant for San Francisco Lyric Opera chorus. 


Music of the Baroque

Wednesdays, Sep 11–Dec 4, 7–9 pm

St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 1755 Clay @ Van Ness (San Francisco)

Offering training in all aspects of choral singing:

  • solfège
  • rhythm
  • harmony
  • vocal technique

Fall 2013 repertoire features music of the Baroque (1600–1750) including three-part canons by Caldara, Bach chorales, and Charpentier's Messe de minuit pour Noël.

Minimum six participants required for each series. We reserve the right to cancel an individual series in whole or in part and issue a refund if minimum registration is not met by the beginning of each series.
