Join us on Thursday, January 17 at The Friendship Cafe to kick off FACES of Social Venture, a monthly meet up for entrepreneurs working in social ventures.
This new series will offer individuals and organizations pursuing social ventures--in all their amazing forms--a community-led platform for sharing ideas and connecting.
The format is simple: we'll spark the conversation with a micro-presentation from someone who's doing something awesome and then let coffee, wine, beer and some tasty munchies from the Cafe do the rest.
This month, our "firestarter" presenter will be Khalil Fuller of NBA Math Hoops. NBA Math Hoops makes math fun for youth and keeps them engaged in school. Khalil is an African American National Merit Scholar, an Echoing Green Black Male Achievement Fellow, and a winner of MassChallenge - the world's largest startup competition. Khalil been named to the Under30CEO list for the Greater Boston Area.
Community is king when it comes to launching new ventures and we’ve made supporting community-led gatherings a priority. Rally Rhode Island is working with leaders in multiple sectors to sponsor a series of meetups in key sectors. FACES is being led by SVPRI's Kelly Ramirez. Kelly has brought together a great group of instigators to get this new community meetup going strong!
At FACES you will meet RI's leading social entrepreneurs, create new collaborations, learn about opportunities and resources in the social venture sector, and tie into a deeper network of supporters and advocates, all while getting a boost of inspiration and some tasty libations.
About the Host
RallyRI has enlisted the help of Kelly Ramirez to launch FACES. Kelly Ramirez is the executive director of Social Enterprise Ecosystem Economic Development (SEEED), the umbrella organization that's inspired, grown, and sustained over 130 successful social enterprises. If you've driven past the technicolor freight stack off of Route 10, you've snuck a glimpse at the shared incubator space that houses SEEED and its umbrella programs including Rhode Island's Change Accelerator program. Under Ramirez's leadership, SEEED, formally known as Social Venture Partners Rhode Island (SVPRI), has been recognized as one of the nation's most vibrant social venture support organizations.
Kelly is being supported by a founding group of "Faces" who are proud to fly the social venture flag and are excited to help grow the community to support many different kinds of social ventures.
