On Wednesday 1st October the Physics Department at Loreto College will be hosting Fabulous Physics 2014, in collaboration with the Institute of Physics and The Ogden Trust. This event is a great opportunity for GCSE students who might be considering studying physics beyond Year 11 and would like to explore the subject even more. This is a free event, although places must be booked in advance. The event will consist of short physics lectures by female physicists, Q&A sessions and hands on physics workshops. 16:15 – 16:30 Arrival, registration and light refreshments – tickets must be booked in advance.

16:30 – 17:00 Supernovae and the Starburst Phenomenon’, Dr. Stacey Habergham, Liverpool John Moores University.

Participants will have the chance to put their questions to the speaker during a Q&A.

17:15 - 17:45 Workshop I

17:45 – 18:15 Workshop II

18:15 – 18:35 Refreshments

18:45 – 19:15 The Physics and Characterisation of Nanomaterials’, Dr. Sarah Haigh, University of Manchester.

Participants will have the chance to put their questions to the speaker during a Q&A.
