As real estate needs continue to evolve, many historic buildings in Chicago will be redeveloped into new uses. Learn from a panel of experts that have recently re-developed historic properties including the Wrigley Building and Sullivan Center. We will discuss various components of these deals, including:

  • Entitlements/Predevelopment – How is this process different for existing historic buildings compared to non-historic ones? Did working with the city and government agencies proceed as expected?
  • Construction – Did the construction process go as expected or was it more challenging?
  • Financing – Were there any special financing strategies or tax credits utilized to make the transaction feasible?
  • Leasing – How did you incorporate new building standards into an historic building to meet the requirements of a tenant in today’s market?

We will discuss lessons learned from each of these developments and highlight both the opportunities and the challenges of historic building rehabs.
