Join DePaul Real Estate Club on Monday, April 28th at 4:00 in DPC 8014 for an informal discussion on careers in real estate featuring guest speakers Barry Millman of Horizon Realty Services, Nick Koglin of Clark Street Development, and Ben Paolone of Associated Bank from the Eisenberg Speaker Series.
The Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation is committed to bolstering the careers of aspiring real estate students and young professionals through its education programs, including mentorships, academic scholarships, Career Day, the Speaker Series, accredited courses and, most recently, the Midwest Real Estate Challenge.
Barry Millman co-founded Horizon Realty Services in 2000 and currently serves as a principal of the organization. He is now responsible indirectly and directly for the leasing of 120 properties, multi and single tenant and the management of 1,300,000 Square Feet of retail space in 34 properties.
He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and recognized in the community as a Leasing Specialist. He is also the Chairman of the Speakers Program for the Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation and where he coordinates a group of 40 professionals who volunteer their time speaking to University Real Estate Programs throughout the Midwest. He has lectured extensively at many local Universities. He is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation.
Nick Koglin is an Associate at Clark Street Development. His responsibilities encompass the acquisition and development process; more specifically, providing support for construction and acquisition financing, building financial models, working with TIF bonds, developing market and tenant databases, tracking capital and returns, and creating marketing materials and presentations for Partners, lenders, potential tenants, and municipalities. Mr. Koglin was a graduate of Marquette University, majoring in Finance and Real Estate. Throughout his collegiate career, Mr. Koglin was an active participant in the Marquette Real Estate Club and was twice a team leader in the Harold E. Eisenberg Midwest Real Estate Challenge, winning in 2012. During college, Mr. Koglin gained pertinent real estate experience through internships at Campus Acquisitions, Pine Tree Commercial and the Mid America Real Estate Corp. Additionally, Mr. Koglin is a member of NAIOP and ICSC and assists with the management of Marquette University’s Undergraduate Scholarship endowment.
Ben Paolone is currently serving as assistant vice president at Chicago based Associated Bank. He specializes in providing financing for the acquisition, development or refinance of cash flowing commercial real estate assets including multi-family, retail, office, industrial and other specialty product types. He is a graduated from Northern Illinois University in 2006 with an undergraduate degree in finance and received his MBA in Real Estate Finance and Investment from DePaul University's Charles H. Kellstadt Graduate School of Business in 2012.
