Exploring the Green Book: A Discussion with Author Calvin Ramsey

Calvin Alexander RamseyPlease join us on for a special Black History Month program with Calvin Alexander Ramsey. Mr. Ramsey is a poet, artist, playwright and award-winning children’s author. His two children’s books, Ruth and the Green Book, and Belle, the Last Mule at Gee’s Band, both focus on significant moments in African American history.

Ruth & the Green BookFor this event, Mr. Ramsey will present and share readings from Ruth and the Green Book, and conduct an interactive discussion on fairness and discrimination.  He will also discuss the importance of preserving old family documents and photos, just like how the Green Book from 1936 was preserved. Local Boston History will be tied in while exploring the Green Book. There will be a book signing afterwards.

This event is suitable for children grades 3 and up, but anyone who maintains an interest in American history is welcome to attend.

The event takes place in the Commonwealth Salon, within the Boston Public Library - Copley Square. Due to space limitations, RSVPs are required.
