The world is getting smaller yet at the same time the people seem to be growing apart. Therefore we want to give representatives of the Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist, and many other communities the opportunity to educate our community about the richness of their faith traditions. Exploring Faiths aims to bring people from different faith backgrounds together in harmony and overcome stereotypes between people of different religions.
Introduction to Buddhism by Gareth Young is for anyone interested in exploring the practices and principles of Buddhism. Light refreshments will be served while Mr. Young discusses the basic concepts and understandings of the Buddhist tradition. Following the lecture will be a brief Q & A session.
Gareth Young was drawn to spirituality in the late 1990's at the height of a successful twenty-year career in finance and M&A. He left the corporate world in 2006 to pursue both independent business livelihood and his spiritual path. In addition to becoming a successful entrepreneur, Mr. Young is one of the founding members of the Red Clay Sangha, an Atlanta Buddhist community, and is very involved in interfaith activities, currently serving as president of the Faith Alliance of Metro Atlanta. He is an author whose credits include two novels, "The Grace of Guilt," and "An Unexamined Life," a contribution to "Sacred Spaces," along with his weekly blog, Interfaith and Spirituality.
This event is free and open to the public. Please RSVP.

When & Where
The Atlantic Institute
Atlantic Institute is an independent, non-profit organization headquartered in Atlanta whose goal is to facilitate dialogue and bridge cultures around the globe. For a better world of peace and understanding, we would like to develop public awareness for diverse cultures, beliefs, traditions, and opinions. We strongly believe in the spirit of the United States of America that celebrates diversity as richness. With our branches in Florida, Alabama, Tennessee and South Carolina, we have been able to dedicate our efforts and resources for building cross-cultural and interfaith dialogue.
Atlantic Institute is a non-profit civic organization that provides various academic and educational platforms to promote diversity in our society. We are significantly influenced by the teachings and writings of Mr. Fethullah Gulen who emphasizes the importance of education, dialogue and understanding in cross-cultural engagement. These universal values are esteemed by many previous scholars and leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Rumi, and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This gives us hope and motivation that we can find common denominators as the global citizens of the world.
Through a wide range of activities that bring local community members from various ethnic and religious backgrounds, we seek to proactively contribute to educational, cultural, social, and humanitarian issues in our community. We believe in the power of personal interaction and communicative dialogue as they are the best channels to build mutual understanding, trust, and harmony for a peaceful world.
