Exclusive Screening: Tavis Smiley’s “Education Under Arrest”

Join us on Monday March 18th to watch Tavis Smiley’s latest special focusing on how to End the School-To-Prison Pipeline.

Admission is free; however, an RSVP is required.

“Kids can’t vote. They can’t get a license ‘til they’re 16, but they can be prosecuted when they’re 14,” – youth interviewed on Tavis Smiley Talks, Ep. Six, “Education Under Arrest,”  airing March 26 @ 8 p.m.

Sixty-eight percent of urban high schools now have police patrols. One out of every three teen arrest happens in schools. In one year, over 300,000 will be incarcerated—a $5 billion price tag for taxpayers—some for offenses as minor as truancy.

On Monday, March 18, CenterScene Public Programs invites you to meet people on the frontlines of reforming the school to prison pipeline, from educators to law enforcement to courts to at-risk youth.  Tavis Smiley will be on-hand post-screening to discuss common sense alternatives to Zero Tolerance policies in our schools, homes, and practices.
