This event happens on Saturday, May 18th, 2013 from 6pm to 11 pm at the Proud Bird Restaurant and Convention Center located next to the Los Angeles Airport (LAX). This is a charity awards/dinner/silent-auction and panel discussion event, conducted by the Flight Test Historical Foundation (a 501c3 tax exempt organization), to raise funds for the Flight Test Museum at Edwards Air Force Base, and to raise funds for scholarships for students pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering or math (STEM). Most of the ticket price tax-deductible. Your ticket also provides special entry to the VIP 'meet and greet' reception before the awards dinner (6 - 7pm). All honorees will be in attendance, including Felix Baumgartner. Dress is business attire.
The Silent Auction include several historic artifacts and super rare mementos from the Red Bull Stratos Team's mission to the edge of space and supersonic free-fall.
Following the Awards Presentation, and during the dinner, there will be a panel discussion with Red Bull Stratos Team members Felix Baumgartner, Art Thompson, and Col. Joe Kittinger. Special panel member also includes Gen. Bob Cardenas, who headed up the historic X-1 mission when Chuck Yeager broke the sound barrier.
