Everybody Has A Story (EHAS) is an annual music and variety show produced by, for, and about the citizens of South Bend and Michiana. The show is designed to inspire a sense of pride and unity in all who attend while raising funds to support a local group in need. We share inspiring accounts of extraordinary people, past and present, who have worked hard to bring positive change in our community, and we feature the amazing talent of local musicians playing a variety of genres. Our unique event promotes awareness in the broader community of the contributions fellow citizens have made for the benefit of all. This event, on Oct. 8, 2016, is perfect for an evening out with family and friends. Patrons will be seated at tables of ten where they can enjoy conversation, refreshments, and snacks, and even dance the night away to the sounds of the best music Michiana has to offer.
This year, the money we raise will support The Madison Primary Center. This inner city school has overcome many obstacles to attain certified academic standards in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) that only a few schools have achieved in Indiana at this level. We hope to support their efforts by providing funds to needed continue their success.
One story we will tell this year honors the SBPD. A noted story-teller will present a dramatic account of John Dillinger’s last bank heist in South Bend where Officer Howard Wagner gave his life to defend his fellow citizens during this tragic event. We intend to present an historical marker commemorating this sacrifice to the SBPD at our show.
Our concert will also recognize the career and work of Billy Stix Nicks, a great musician from South Bend. Mr. Nicks played an important role in the development of the MoTown Sound in the late 1950’s and has traveled the world playing with many of the great stars of that era. Now 82 and still performing, he continues to teach music and mentor youth in the Michiana area.
