Join us for a networking event and lively panel discussion featuring the cultural differences and professional challenges faced by European founders as they scale their business and embrace the global marketplace in Silicon Valley.  This event is hosted by the French Consulate at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in Palo Alto.

Speakers

Alfredo Coppola is the President and Executive Director of the US Market Access Center, the longest-standing high-tech business incubator in Silicon Valley for foreign companies seeking to successfully enter the Silicon Valley and the greater US Markets. Alfredo joined US MAC in 2004 as a management consultant and then joined the management team in 2008 as Director of Business Development, where he expanded US MAC’s partner programs and introduced the “Go Global” Silicon Valley market accelerator program.

Sunil Maulik joined Innovation Denmark in 2012. Prior to that, he was Chie Business Officer for People Power. He has co-founded three software companies including GeneEd, where he developed a system for healthcare e-learning. Prior to GeneEd, he served as VP of Business Development at Pangea Systems, a Kleiner-Perkins funded bioinformatics company, head of West Coast sales for Tripos, and an applications scientist at Roche Bioscience. He has a Ph.D. in biophysics from Brandeis University, an M.Sc. in Crystallography from Birkbeck College, London, and a B.Sc.'s in physics and biology from King's College, London. He sits on the boards of Acteva Inc. and Health2.0, and has been an adjunct faculty member at UC Berkeley. He is co-author of Molecular Biotechnology, published by John Wiley & Sons.

Carlos Diaz is CEO and co-founder of Kwarter. As a serial entrepreneur with over 15 years experience in strategic management, Carlos has amassed a successful track record of innovative startup growth. At 23, Carlos co-founded Reflect Digital Agency in Paris. After Reflect was acquired by the eMakina group, he went on to form blueKiwi, which became a European leader in social enterprise software and has been sold to ATOS in 2012. Now living in San Francisco with his family, Carlos is focused on building Kwarter to revolutionize the traditional TV experience.
 

Craig Sherman (Moderator) is a partner at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where he focuses on corporate and securities laws, representing companies, venture capital firms, and investments banks in private placements and public offerings. Craig also has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, technology licensing, and domestic and international joint ventures.  Craig works with a variety of companies in the software, digital media, Internet, hardware and clean technology industries. Craig began private practice in 1989 with Davis Polk & Wardwell in New York and Paris, and has worked in Seattle since 1995. He joined Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in 2002. Craig has a bachelors and masters degree in International Relations and French from Stanford University, a certificate d’études politiques from l’Institut d’Etudes Politiques in Paris and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.

Anselm Bossacoma is the Executive Director for overseas trade and investment relations between Catalonia and California. Mr. Bossacoma builds valuable business relationships and develops sound investment strategies for Catalan companies who have a strong desire to establish themselves in the Western United States.  Anselm is a specialist in creating valuable international business opportunities and developing them into global endeavors. Serial entrepreneur himself and proud of his Catalan heritage, Anselm was appointed Executive Director of the California office of the Catalonian Trade and Investment Agency (ACC1Ó) in 2005. Over the past years, he has advised over 100 Catalan companies and overseen a multitude of ventures in a wide variety of industries such as Biotech, Cleantech, IT, Entertainment, Fashion, Food & Beverage, and Manufacturing among many others.
