Event Details

Erin’s Law was passed in January 2013 requiring all public schools to immediately implement age-appropriate, prevention-oriented child sexual abuse programs for k-12th grade. Previously, this information was only required for grades 9-12.

The law also expands the definition of professional development activities for teachers to include programs on sexual assault and abuse awareness and prevention.

This conference is free. CEUs will be available for a nominal charge. Space is limited, so registrations will be held on a first-come,  first-served basis.

Topics covered will include:

  •  Erin’s Law and how it applies to your school
  •  Recognizing Signs of Sexual Abuse
  •  Myths about Sexual Violence
  •  Prevention Education K—12
  •  Mandated Reporting
  •  Parent/Guardian Education
  •  And much more!

  •  Every six minutes a child is sexually assaulted in the United States.

  •  1 in 3 girls and 1 in 5 boys will be sexually   abused before the age of 18.

  •  A child tells an average of seven adults about the abuse before (s)he is believed.

  •  In 9 out of 10 instances of child sexual abuse, the victim knows his/her abuser.

  •  Only 1 in 10 children who are sexually abused tell someone.
