ERASING BORDERS 2013
Erasing Borders Exhibition of Contemporary
Indian Art of the Diaspora

 Reception: Friday November 8th, 4 - 7PM

This Exhibition is Free and Open to the Public:
 November 5-December 4, 2013

The Arthur M. Berger Art Gallery, Manhattanville College, New York.

Erasing Borders is a richly provocative exhibition by artists of the Indian diaspora who confront issues of sexuality, terror, disease, the environment, racial and sectarian politics in painting, prints, installations, video, and sculpture. With great technical mastery and diversity of theme and style, these works combine traditional Indian aesthetics with Western elements, and speak to the powerful experience of personal and cultural dislocation in the global village. In its eighth year, Erasing Borders is curated by Vijay Kumar and produced by the Indo-American Arts Council. Free and open to the public.

PondyART is a noteworthy international public art project which debuted in Pondicherry, India in 2013 and is now seeking a location in New York as the next site in which to build awareness of the global challenges of indigenous societies.  PondyART has been invited by the Indo American Arts Council (IAAC) to present ADIVASI in New York City this September.

PondyART and IAAC are actively seeking advocates and patrons in an effort to launch the exhibition on schedule for maximum effect. Every donation, however large or small, is greatly appreciated.

The IAAC supports all the artistic disciplines in classical, fusion, folk and innovative forms influenced by the arts of India. We work cooperatively with colleagues around the United States to broaden our collective audiences and to create a network for shared information, resources and funding. Our focus is to help artists and art organizations in North America as well as to facilitate artists from India to exhibit, perform and produce their work here. The IAAC is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. All donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowable by law.
