Enhancing Your Professional Reach with Twitter

Presenter:  Shannon Distel, Social Media & Career Development speaker; Business Services Librarian, Arlington Heights Memorial Library

In the world of career management and the job market, social media is key. LinkedIn is considered the hub of all professional networking, but Twitter is often cited as the fastest-growing resource for industry leaders, HR professionals, and employees at all stages in their careers. This session will briefly explore how Twitter works, but will dive more deeply into methods for connecting with key decision-makers in your industry, finding mentors, posting or discovering job opportunities, and even developing your business.

Shannon Distel (@livelylibrarian) is a Business Services Librarian who assists small businesses and job seekers utilize library resources and social networking to obtain their professional goals.  Shannon is a frequent speaker and trainer on emerging technologies and social media and conducts over 100 hours of one-on-one appointments each year. She received her MLIS from Dominican University and has a background in reference, library programming and core competency development for library staff.

Once you register, webex details will be emailed to you 2 days prior to the session.
