English Language Arts (ELA) Core Curriculum State Standards (CCSS) Summer Workshop Series (Grades 6-9)
This three-day series will offer participants an immersion experience in the Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts Literacy. Through a variety of interactive and engaging activities that include direct application to instructional practice and curriculum design, participants will deepen their understanding of the standards and how to effectively implement them in practice. The workshop will energize educators by equipping them with new ideas and resources to enhance student learning.
Participants may choose to attend either the entire three-day series or selected days:
Day 1: ELA Literacy CCSS: Overview
Day 2: ELA Literacy CCSS: Primary Focus on the Reading Standards and integration of Speaking and Listening Standards
Day 3: ELA Literacy CCSS: Primary Focus on the Writing Standards and integration of Language Standards
Dana Maloney is a practicing teacher of English at the secondary level in the Tenafly School District. Dana was recently honored by Princeton University as the 2012 recipient of the Distinguished Secondary Teaching Award and also received the James Moffett Award for Teacher Research at the 2012 National Council of Teachers of English Annual Convention. She is a a passionate educator and experienced teacher trainer and curriculum writer.
