Tomorrow, buildings will be more than bricks and mortar. They are being designed with energy efficiency and conservation in mind. The integration of information technology into the design, construction and operation of buildings opens up possibilities for market innovation. Smart meters, smart LED’s and the latest information technologies empower building owners and create whole new markets for products which leverage data for improved quality and efficiency.

The MassTLC Energy Cluster with the BSA is holding a Breakfast Seminar on the link between innovation, technology and energy efficiency in buildings. A panel of experts in sustainable design, development and technology will present a variety of perspectives on the future of this convergence.

Participants will:

  • Become aware of the way that building owner demand for energy reduction drives innovative applications of technology.
  • Gain an understanding of the state of the art practices of design leaders in moving the built environment to low levels of energy consumption.
  • Learn what roles technology can play in emerging project delivery models, such as integrated design and collaborative, holistic approaches.
  • Consider specific technology opportunities which are emerging for the collection and application of information in buildings.

Panel of experts includes:

  • Brendon Buckley, North American NIS Solutions Director, Johnson Controls Inc
  • Brian Chemel, Founder and CTO, Digital Lumens
  • Rick Esker, Director, Emerging Solutions Ecosystems, CRE Domain Lead. Cisco Systems
