Description

District 833 will be hosting our upcoming 'Emotional Health and Wellness Fair' on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Park High School. The theme this year is "Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds...Igniting the Conversation around Emotional Health and Wellness in Youth." Our target audience will be educators, mental health staff, parents and teens. We hope to provide insights and education relating to the connection between emotional and physical health and academic, social and emotional success.

What can you expect?

· Over 50 vendors that represent community mental health resources and agencies that address the "basic needs" of our families

· A wide variety of breakout sessions addressing key mental health issues

· An inspiring keynote address designed to appeal to both youth and adults

Registration begins at 8:15 am with refreshments and community vendors. Superintendent Dr. Keith Jacobus, will welcome everyone at 8:45 am and introduce our keynote speaker, Dr. Henry Emmons. Dr. Emmons is the author of "Chemistry of Calm" and he will present "The Roots of Resilience: 7 Keys to Lifelong Emotional Health & Wellness."

Our last resource fair was a great success, and we received positive feedback from those who attended. Please consider participating in some capacity. All participants will receive CEU's and those that participate in the "Early Signs and Symptoms of Mental Illness" will receive their 2 mental health CEU's.

This event is funded in part by Connect Washington County, the Mark A. Pursley Foundation, and the Suicide Prevention Collaborative and is sponsored by the South Washington County School District.
