Game Theory & Strategy: Thinking Ahead of Your Competitors
Faculty: Karla Borja, Ph.D.
Lunch: noon – 1 p.m.
Workshop: 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
In a highly competitive business environment with asymmetric information, we will experience challenging decisions that might affect other market participants. As managers, leaders, and mentors, we cannot overlook the responses of others. In fact, it is our prime task to assess the outcomes of our actions and to determine possible actions from our competitors. This seminar provides the basic tools to reach the best possible outcomes when several parties with conflicting interests must interact in the market place. We will learn how to use game theory tools to formally and systematically address situations of conflict such as when a firm’s optimal price strategy affects the profits of its competitors; or situations in which employers must make hiring decisions under asymmetric information.
