embroidered pillowcase workshop
Saturday, October 19, 2013 from 9:15 AM to 12:15 PM (CDT)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
Saturday, October 19 from 9:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.
Beginning and experienced sewists are invited to join Heidi Rupke to sew simple pillowcases and then embellish them with hand embroidery. Students will learn/review basic rotary-cutting and machine-sewing skills while designing and constructing beautiful pillow cases with flat piping! Then, after practicing a couple of basic embroidery stitches (the split and stem stitches), we will make each case entirely unique by stitching a design of your choice. This project makes an excellent gift or guest room linen, and it takes only a couple hours to complete.
Chidren, ages 8 and up, are welcome but this workshop is not limited to children.
Bring your own machine or sign up early to reserve one of four shop machines.
In addition to the workshop fee, students will need to purchase/provide machine-sewing thread, embroidery thread and needles, an embroidery hoop, and three different complementary fabrics totalling one yard (a king-sized case will require a bit more fabric). All supplies are availabe at Sew Memphis at a 10% class discount. Students will receive a more detailed supply list upon registration.
