We are inviting you to meet Matthew Levey, who is hoping to open The International Charter School in our area in September 2014. He would like to share his ideas for the school with you and get your input.
Matthew is the parent of three children in public schools, the former head of a Community Education Council, and a multilingual former diplomat who served in postings across the globe from Guayaquil to Sarajevo. He has teamed up with experienced educators to execute his vision of a school that will prepare children for the increasingly international world in which we live. His school will feature early language instruction, a rigorous global curriculum that prepares students for success at the most demanding high schools, and highly capable teachers who will tap into children’s curiosity and creativity. Perhaps most importantly, the school will recruit a student body reflecting Brooklyn’s incredible diversity ensuring that students, from the moment they enter the school, will have ample opportunity to learn from people from other cultures, religions and races.
This is a chance for parents to hear what he is thinking about, ask him questions, and give him feedback about what our community is looking for in a school. We’ll have food and drinks there.
It’s so important for parents to get involved in determining what kind of educational options there are in our community for our children. This is a chance to do that.
