An Evening with LEO KOTTKE
- Performing & Visual Arts
- The Colonial Theatre, Bethlehem NH
Elegante is the debut solo recording for Susan Palma-Nidel who has been the Flutist with the renowned Orpheus Chamber Orchestra since 1980, and is well known locally as a founding member of The North Country Chamber Players. While she has appeared on more than 100 recordings, many times as a featured soloist, this is her first outing as a leader. Elegante focuses on South American Music featuring composers and musicians whom Susan has worked with and admired for many years. The seven compositions are each completely unique, yet flow into one another, presenting a thematically cohesive feeling from start to finish. Elegante demonstrates the full range of Susan’s extraordinary abilities and versatility and combines World Music, Folk, Tango and Classical styles and disciplines creating what can be called “New World Music”.
As a result of the camaraderie established while recording Elegante, Susan and many of the musicians on the recording have established a collective to perform music from the recording as well as related compositions from the members of the collective and other South American musical luminaries. The Collective’s members include: Susan Palma Nidel, flutes; Hector del Curto, bandoneon; Jisoo Ok, cello; Café, percussion; and special guest Pablo Ziegler, piano.
