Egyptian Contemporary Film Series
Faransa is a troublesome woman who destroys wedding parties and gets involved in most of the fights in her neighborhood. When her sister dies, Faransa must raise her nieces, Batta and Wezza, who are forced to take up her vocation of being a wedding crasher, a scandal-starter, and peace disturber which she gets paid to do. Faransa's services are on sale to the highest bidder when she finds herself embroiled in a battle between politicians. An extremely animated and fast-moving film, Khalty Faransa (My Aunt France) depicts an often under-appreciated and vilified community in Egyptian society.
Each film will be followed by a brief discussion moderated by Dr. Adel Iskandar.
