CCAS is proud to present
Egyptian Contemporary Film Series
In this comedic look at youth disenchantment and deprivation, three friends go through great travails and adventures in the quest to watch a racy film. In the process, they confront their greatest worries and their quashed dreams of leading “normal” lives. The film is a snarky condemnation of the state of gender dynamics in the country and the poverty which suffocates the aspirations of youth, from killing their occupational chances to leaving them without marital prospects. Film Thakafi is an unabashedly masculine look at emasculation in Egyptian society.
Each film will be followed by a brief discussion moderated by Dr. Adel Iskandar.
