Educator Media Course: Digital Portraits & Cindy Sherman
Monday, August 6, 2012 at 11:00 AM - Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 5:00 PM (PDT)
Join KQED Arts Education for an educator class on digital storytelling and a special tour of the Cindy Sherman exhibition at SFMOMA
Work with KQED's arts and media education staff to develop and produce a short autobiographical digital story. During the course we will explore the work of artists at SFMOMA who work in photography and staged portraiture, including one of the 20th century's most influential artists, Cindy Sherman. See the new Cindy Sherman exhibition during a special educator tour at SFMOMA, then spend time at KQED for a training in video editing, and create a digital video portrait that may be used as a model for classroom projects.
We will look at strategies for integrating both generated and found media resources into your projects, so get out those old photo albums and digital photo files. You may also work with images of your own artwork, or found photographs. Attendees will discover new ideas for infusing digital media projects into existing curricula, and complete a short video "portrait" by the end of the workshop series.
All sessions are required. It is preferred that you use your own laptop with iMovie (Macs) or Movie Maker (Windows) for the workshops, but we have a few KQED laptops that may be borrowed for the duration of the class.
This class is open to formal and informal educators working in Middle and High School classrooms. Please do not sign up unless you are certain you can make the time commitment. Dates and times listed below.
