Education Emergency Community Meeting
Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 6:30 PM (EDT)
We are facing an Education Emergency in Philadelphia!
Outside Consultants are proposing to destroy the Philadelphia Public School System and cut thousands of living wage jobs!
- Close 64 schools;
- Destroy thousands of living wage jobs and replace them with low wage jobs
- Turnover many of the remaining schools to private Charter operators
The proposal does not talk about things that are known to work in improving education:
- Lowering class size
- A highly qualified, experienced teacher in every classroom
- Clean and safe schools
This is a fast moving train, with plan to vote on this proposal by the end of May.
TIME TO STAND UP! For good schools, for good paying jobs and for our entire city!!

When & Where
ACTION United was formed to advance the interests of low and moderate income families around Pennsylvania on the issues that are of critical importance to us: economic justice for low income and working families; fair lending practices and a real solution to the foreclosure crisis; good schools; clean air and a safe environment; and quality affordable health care.
