Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 11:00 AM (CDT)
"Bring your own" cooking class with Tamar Adler, author of the acclaimed An Everlasting Meal
Brooklyn-based chef and author Tamar Adler will lead this “bring your own” cooking class, for which attendees are asked to show up with "fading vegetables, old herbs, jars half full of whatever, leftover pasta" – basically anything from the fridge or pantry. With this motley assortment of ingredients, Adler and attendees (plus some special guests) will create a meal from scratch.
Tamar Adler is a veteran of Gabrielle Hamilton’s Prune restaurant and Chez Panisse and was the founding head chef of Farm 255 in Athens, Ga. Michael Pollan called her new book, An Everlasting Meal, “the best book on ‘cooking with economy and grace’ since MFK Fisher.”
Location: European Kitchen of Alabama, 2717 Second Avenue South, Birmingham, AL 35233
When & Where
Eat Drink Read Write Festival
Everyone eats, savors favorite foods, and enjoys food memories. The Birmingham Public Library (BPL) and partners will nourish body, mind, and soul with the second annual Eat Drink Read Write Festival. By bringing folks to the table to share a common bond, we’ll foster community in this diverse city.
Our goal is to increase awareness of food-related concerns in our community by exploring these issues from a variety of perspectives.
