Sixth Annual Economic Impact Award:
Honoring the founders of the Eastern Virginia Medical School whose vision of regional cooperation and tenacity to persevere has created a medical school with an annual economic impact of nearly $825 million. EVMS has changed the face of medicine and the economy in Hampton Roads. What began as a grassroots community effort, and an initial class of 24 MD students, EVMS continues to benefit the region as a provider of high-quality patient care, trainer of the next generation of health providers, and a facilitator of cutting-edge research.
