A Summer-Long Celebration of Food, Movies and Music Comes to Downtown LA for the Largest Pop-Up Drive-In Movie Event on Saturday August 24th
Rated R. "Warriors! Come Out and Plaaaay!" Perhaps the most memorable line from this 1979 cult action/thriller. Set in New York City, Cyrus, the leader of the Grammercy Riffs, the most powerful gang in NYC, calls a midnight summit of all New York area gangs, requesting them to send nine unarmed delgates to Van Cortlandt Park, up in the Bronx. The Warriors, from Coney Island, are one of the gangs. Cyrus proposes a permanent citywide truce that would allow the gangs to control the city. Most of the gangs laud this idea, but Luther, leader of the Rogues, shoots Cyrus and frames the Warriors.
This film has been popularized in the 2005 video game of the same name and most recently was slated to be remade by the late Tony Scott.
