Ever wonder how the food you eat affects your body, mind and overall health status?
Join us on this 4-week journey through the basics of nutrition to learn more about the connection between what you eat and how you feel. This FREE seminar will feature 4, one hour long classes that cover topics including:
- General "Eating for Health" model
- Downfalls of our standard american diet
- Importance of seasonal, local and organic foods
- Identifying good proteins, healthy fats and fresh carbohydrates
- Basics of digestion and absorption
- Increasing body awareness through mindful eating
- Shopping healthy on a small budget
- Easy "Eating for Health" meal ideas for the novice chef
Classes will be taught by Bauman College Holistic Nutrition student, Cassandra Gates, as part of an internship requirement for graduation. Cassandra will also be choosing two volunteers who will receive six weeks of personal, one-on-one nutrition consulting that will include a diet analysis, health evaluation report, sample meal plan, personalized recipes, and general health recommendations FOR FREE (over a $600 value per person!!). Sign-up for the one-on-one counseling spots will happen at the end of class one.
As if all of the above isn't enough- she will also be preparing healthy, organic, gluten-free meals to bring to each class. Yes, there will be FREE FOOD!
