Heal the Bay's
Earth Day Youth Summit
Saturday, March 9th
High School Students and Teachers, learn how you can bring Earth Day to your campus! Join with Heal the Bay and other leaders from all over Los Angeles to participate in support of environmental awareness and stewardship. From Campus Cleanups to Reusable Bag Giveaways, you too can spread the word about about bringing environmental leadership to your community!
Lunch will be provided promptly at 12:30, with presentations and workshops to follow. Then, finishing up the summit will be a screening of the documentary film White Wash, exploring the complexity of race in the U.S. through the eyes of the ocean culture in Santa Monica and Southern California. See how local community members stood up as leaders in the fight for social justice, and enjoy discussion with the filmmakers Rick Blocker, Rusty White, and Alison Jefferson following the screening. (See the trailer for White Wash.)
Students, campus clubs and teachers are encouraged to attend, with a limit of 6 participants per campus. A perfect opportunity for community-service hours and student leadership - make your Eath Day shine blue and green!
Heal the Bay is a nonprofit environmental organization making Southern California coastal waters and watersheds, including Santa Monica Bay, safe, healthy and clean. We use science, education, community action and advocacy to pursue our mission.
