Dumbed Down Digital Photography, Part 1 (2 day workshop for library/literacy staff/volunteers)
If the thought of aperture and shutter speeds frustrate you, then consider this class. We will take a fresh approach to “basic” digital photography, leaving out the more detailed aspects and focusing on getting good pictures from a compact “point and shoot” camera. As much as possible, each topic taught will immediately have students reinforcing that topic by taking pictures with their camera and downloading into Photoshop Elements. Class participants will need to bring their own camera, the camera’s USB cable and instruction manual, and extra batteries.
Students must also enroll in the part 2 Dumbed Down Digital Photography class section on October 9 or go on a paper waiting list with Melanie Price.
Amy Brandley, library director for El Reno Public Library and local photographer, will teach the class. Kathy Blick O'Donnell, computer lab coordinator & trainer at ODL, will teach the Photoshop Elements portion of the training. There is no prerequisite for this class. Students are encouraged to take Beginning Photoshop Elements classes at some point.
If your library or literacy organization is 60 miles or more from ODL, a travel stipend of up to $92/night for overnight stay may be available. (Stipend will be based on lodging receipt. If lodging charges are less than $92, the contract will be written for the actual amount, not $92.) Mileage also may be reimbursed at 30 cents/mile if you are paying for your own gas & cannot collect from your library/literacy organization. Stipend contracts will be made out to the library/literacy organization. It will be your responsibility to collect your reimbursement from such organization. No travel stipend contracts will be written until the class has been attended and photocopied proof of overnight stay (if applicable) has been submitted to the Office of Library Development.
