Event Details

The Stanford Robotics Club is organizing and hosting a Drone Games sponsored hackathon at Stanford University on April 6th to kickoff National Robotics Week

The competition is part of our initiative to promote robotics as a fun and accessible field, provide hands-on experience and showcase the cleverness and technical competence of the Stanford community.

About Drone Games

Drone Games is a NodeCopter-Style programming competition powered by drones and JavaScript. Hackers will receive one Parrot AR Drone 2.0 so they can work on their project. Here is one of the drones in action. The day of the event hackers will get a chance to present their work to other attendees and judges.

FAQs

Q:  Where can I buy a drone?

A: You can buy your own AR Drone 2.0 on Amazon or locally here!

Q: How do I program a drone?

A: You can use any language. However, Felix Geisendörfer wrote a library to control the Parrot AR Drone 2.0 with javascript using node.js. Here are links to Setting Up Your Development Environment and Writing Your First AR Drone + NodeJS Program.

Q: Where can I park and how much does it cost?

A: Parking is free on weekends. The parking lot at Tresidder Union and Parking Structure 2 at Via Ortega and Panama Streets are both fairly convenient to Building 550.
