What is the future of energy in California? The speakers will focus on three drivers that are helping create our future: technology/innovation, market/utility business models, and a carbon constrained world. Each will start off the evening with their own short presentation to be followed by a discussion among the speakers on the future of energy use, energy supply, and energy infrastructures followed by audience Q&A. To compliment the discussion a reception with light beverages and snacks will be hosted to help foster discussion and relationship building among the attendees.
Mary Nichols, Chair of the California Air Resources Board and former Assistant Administrator for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Air and Radiation program under President Clinton, Secretary for California’s Resources Agency from 1999 to 2003 and Director of the Institute of the Environment at the University of California Los Angeles
Dr. Arun Majumdar, Former Acting Undersecretary of Energy and Founding Director of the DOE’s Advanced Research and Projects Agency – Energy (ARPA-E), appointed by President Obama. Prior to joining the Department of Energy, he was the Associate Laboratory Director for Energy and Environment at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory
Dr. Peter Fox-Penner, Principal and Chairman of The Brattle Group; author of Smart Power: Climate Change, the Smart Grid, and the Future of Electric Utilities. He was a senior official in the Department of Energy and the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy

The event will start with light refreshments and book signing by Peter Fox-Penner at 4:00pm followed by the panel discussion from approximately 5:30pm to 7:00pm.
