Drinks and Data NYC - special Web-Scale Real-Time Transaction Processing edition
Thursday, October 18, 2012 from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM (EDT)
New York, NY
When we found out that Srini V. Srinivasan, Founder and VP Engineering / Operations at Aerospike, was coming to town to speak at Database Month, we invited him to join us for a special edition of Drinks and Data. Srini has been around the block. A few times. Some of you guys may remember him as Chief Architect for IBM DB2 Web. (Did I ever tell you that I used to have an AS/400?) After IBM, he joined Yahoo as Senior Director of Engineering. Did you know that Yahoo used Oracle for a while? If you're trying to use Oracle for your webscale stuff, you should talk with Srini.
Update: I just found out the Brian Bulkowski, CTO and Co-founder of Aerospike, will be in attendance as well. Brian just had a great interview with John Furrier on the Cube where he talks about the steps leading him to his current work.
As usual, there is no talk, no presentation, just drinks...and data.
Also as usual, this edition of Drinks and Data will be at Dewey's Flat Iron on 5th Ave. They've got great appetizers, so you can come straight from the office. Dewey's will be reserving the top floor for us, and I'll be blocking recruiters at the door, so you can have a decent conversation without someone coming up every 5 mins asking : Do you know the Haddoop?
By the way, if you're not doing anything on the 17th, check out Srini's Database Month talk at Pivotal Labs:
Hope to see you at the Happy Hour!
Don't forget to RSVP!
