How large are the tour groups?
The number of people varies, but most groups will be limited to no more than 16. This keeps the tour manageable for the guide and the restaurants, plus guests get a more personal tour.
What should I wear?
These are walking tours, so wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes. Check the weather on the day of your tour and dress appropriately – we conduct tours hot, cold, rain or shine. Don’t forget sunglasses, sunscreen, hats, coats, scarves or umbrellas depending on the weather. We will only cancel or reschedule if weather conditions are dangerous - we’ll contact you by email if this occurs.
Is this a progressive meal?
Not exactly. The restaurants choose what they will serve, based on what best shows off their menu and what’s the best available that day. It doesn’t necessarily follow that you’ll start with appetizers and end with dessert.
Can I bring my camera?
Sure! There are lots of opportunities to take pictures during the tours.
May I bring my dog?
Sorry, no pets. We’re visiting restaurants, and pets aren’t allowed unless they are service animals.
Should I bring my kids?
Probably no. You’ll have to make that call, based on your child’s age/maturity, but most of our tours are not set up for children. The samplings at some of the restaurants may feature alcohol or may not suit the palate of children that are “particular.” If you’re not sure, then don’t.
How much food will we be eating?
Word to the wise: Come Hungry! There are enough tastings that most people will not need a meal afterwards. If you’re still hungry once the tour is over, feel free to go back to your favorite stop for more!
I have allergies!
We’re not doctors, but if you have allergies or sensitivities to any foods or items used in food production, it’s safe to assume that absolutely everything served on this tour is/contains/was made in a kitchen with an allergen of some sort. We encourage you to use the same discretion that has enabled you to live a full and healthy life to this point!
What if I’m Vegan/Vegetarian/Gluten Free/picky eater?
No tour is for everyone. If you have limited food choices, this is probably not the place for you. The restaurants choose what they will serve. This allows them to show off the best of their menu and the freshest ingredients of the day. While I can tell you what’s been offered in the past, I can’t guarantee what will be served on any particular tour and I won’t ask the restaurants to prepare special items just for you. In general: there’s almost never shellfish on the tour. If alcohol offends you, don’t go on the Decatur tour, but you may be comfortable at Sweet Auburn Curb Market. If you don’t eat pork, you won’t be a happy camper on any tour. Our logo is a pig and well prepared pork belly is the food of the gods. ‘Nuff said.
Will there be alcohol?
Maybe. There is no alcohol served at the Sweet Auburn Curb Market, but other tours may have alcoholic beverages offered at some of the restaurants. Again, it’s at the discression of the restaurants.
Should I bring cash?
Our tours are all inclusive, but it’s a good idea to have some extra cash on hand for souvenirs, gifts, an extra dessert to bring home etc. You may also choose to purchase an adult beverage at some stops (not Sweet Auburn Curb Market, which has no alcohol).
When should I arrive for the tour?
It’s very important that you arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled start time. We start on time. If you’re running late, your confirmation will have a contact number to call. Remember that Atlanta traffic is always bad, even on weekends. Allow extra time for traffic and parking.
Should I tip my tour guide?
In the tourism industry, it is customary to tip your guide. For Private events, a gratuity will be added to your total cost.
