9:30AM - The Art & Science of Volunteer Engagement with Fusebox Managing Director Brad Carlin

volunteer program and what they learned along the way.

10:45-11:45AM - Session 1

Top 10 Tips for new Professionals with Lou Serna: Voluntology, Chief Engagement Officer & Co-Founder

The role of a volunteer engagement professional can sometimes be convoluted and overwhelming.   Our positions require us to wear many hats and provide a variety of skill sets to multiple audiences.  Sometimes it' is hard to know where to start or what should be done.  During our time together we will have open conversations about our field and our roles.  Come learn about lessons learned and best practices for successful volunteer engagement strategy.  This session guarantees to have new and seasoned professionals critically examine the way they approach their work with volunteers.

Breakout A) Change Yourself. Change Others. Empowerment Practices with Elizabeth Frisch (Double session – will go into Session 3)

Author Elizabeth Frisch, has more than 20 years of experience leading, teaching, designing, organizational development programs for businesses and nonprofits nationally. Her book, titled Mission to Millions$ – Taking Big Ideas and Making Them Happen is publishing in October 2014. This double session is all about developing you so you can empower others to make big changes and support your non-profits vision and mission. Session 1 will focus on change. It’s so easy to judge others. Why can't they change this? Why don't they see that? We spend a lot of life energy working to change others, whether they’re our spouse, our kids, our friends, our bosses, or our co-workers. Yet, we ourselves can't even change our own behaviors, so how can we expect others to change so easily? In this session you will get on the path to self-mastery of changing your own behaviors so you can lead others to shift theirs.

2:00-3:00PM Session 3

Breakout A) Lead Yourself. Lead Others. Empowerment Practices with Elizabeth Frisch (Part 2)

Most great leaders are made, not born!  So what does it take to lead yourself to success and also lead others especially in a volunteer environment?  We promise you will never look at leadership the same way again! Adapted from the Defying Gravity Leadership Academy and soon to be a book (publishing in 2015), come to this session if you are interested in producing extraordinary results from ordinary practices we take for granted.  You will come out of this session with a whole different view of leadership within yourself, at home, at work, and in your community.

Kick Time Management to the Curb – Attention Management is the Skill You Need with Maura Thomas

The rapid advance in technology over the last 50 years is literally shaping the evolution of our brains. The old ideas of multitasking and time management in the “Information Age” are being replaced by new ideas of focus, control, and the Attention Age. The secret of productivity, of getting things done, of living the life we want now comes down to the ability to manage our attention. In this presentation, Maura will debunk the myths about “time management” and “information overload,” empowering attendees with secrets and strategies to:

•More easily manage all the details of life and work

•Master technology that supports productivity -- or sabotages it,

•Find joy and exhilaration in daily activities, not just exhaustion,

•Lower stress, and improve clarity and peace of mind.

Happy Hour and networking to  follow. Location TBA.
