Domestic Violence: Intervention and reporting strategies
Domestic violence is defined as a pattern of behavior within an intimate relationship in which one partner uses coercion, abuse and manipulation to maintain control over their partner. It is estimated that one in four women will experience some form of intimate abuse in their lifetime and over three women and one man are murdered each day by their intimate partners in the US (US bureau of Justice statistics). This course will provide an introduction to the history and dynamics of interpersonal, intimate violence and strategies for identification and assistance to survivors. Participants will learn how to conduct a lethality assessment and complete a safety plan for persons at risk.
