About the Chef

Currently a Los Angeles resident by way of Maryland, Alex LaBorwit has had a diverse career
which has taken him around the country. From Hilton Head to Washington, DC, Atlanta to Dallas,
Chef Alex has worked under such distinguished chefs as Bob Kinkead, Marcella Hazan and
Giuliano Bugialli at such esteemed restaurants as Veni, Vidi, Vici, Dallas Musem of Art, Sfuzzi and The Oval Room.
He was recognized by Food Arts Magazine for his cooking at Lynn's Paradise Café in Louisville where he was one of the pioneers of sourcing food from local farmers.
Most recently, a move to LA brought him to Wolfgang Puck Catering where he worked at Maple Drive, Hollywood & Highland and Griffith Park Observatory.
His training at Baltimore Culinary Art Institute prepared him well for many different techniques. He describes his current cuisine as contemporary with a French influence.
Chef Alex is the product of many travels, many restaurants, many mentors and many meals. Now he's bringing it all to DNA dinners where he will cook 5 course intimate sit down dinners for 12 in a private home.
You can also find him every Tuesday night at the Kibbitz Room at Canter's Deli playing percussion which is his other passion.
