We're talking to Toolfarm's Michele Yamazaki about all of the plugins you'll want to check out : from Photoshop to After Effects, there are tools to help you get the look you want quickly and easily without writing your own code. And new plugins coming out all the time! ;)

michele yamazakiMichele Yamazaki is Pluginologist for Toolfarm (www.toolfarm.com), a value added reseller and distributor of visual effects software. She recently wrote Plug-in with After Effects: Third Party Plug-in Mastery, which came out in June 2011, and in Japan in May 2012. She co-authored Greenscreen Made Easy: Keying and Compositing Techniques for Indie Filmmakers with Jeremy Hanke, published in 2009 by MWP.

Michele started at Postworks as a motion graphics artist. She taught After Effects and Photoshop at Kendall College of Art & Design. In 2001 she launched AEFreemart.com and in 2002 co-founded West Michigan Animation & Effects User Group. She is a former board member of MCAI Mid-Michigan and West Michigan Film & Video Alliance. Michele has a BA from Grand Valley State University. She lives in Grand Rapids with her lovely daughter, Lily, and her cats, Matilda and Tressa.

harry frank red giant softwareHarry Frank is our very own local RedGiantSoftware guru. (You can buy his presets through this guru link)

RedGiant Software is not only a developer, but also resells some of the most popular plugin titles for design, animation, compositing, and restoration.

Harry will join us to talk about some new plugins for Photoshop, After Effects and give dmala a sneak peek at a highly anticipated new plugin! (be present!)  As if that weren't enough, Harry has answers to many of your advanced questions as well!

You can find a library of Harry's tutorials on the Red Giant Software website

Wanna write your own code instead? Yeah - you can do that too.  Stay tuned for some talk about some great new software that just got released into the wild (public beta) from Adobe which will help you show your genius, and get paid for it!

Have a favorite trick or tip that you want to share?  We have a few minutes for you to come up and demo your best 3rd party plugin tip (special gift if you're selected to present).

Demo Reel month is a great time to get noticed.  Put your reel up on our big screen and talk about what you do.  Time to meet some new animators too.

Please keep your reel to a reasonable duration.  If you have a single clip that you want to show - bring that!  Every employer says that a short, but brilliant piece of work is enough to get them interested.

Send me an email right away - or after you've registed for the meeting.  We need to talk!

If you're new to our meetings, you need to know - - if you want to win it, be a member on our ADOBE GROUPS page.  I know - I know - more stuff to fill out.  But chances are, you already have an Adobe ID, so you just have to go to our Adobe Group and click "JOIN".   If you don't have an Adobe ID, go to our page and find out how to get it done in 30 seconds. (yeah that's me) and our members have access to Adobe Labs (beta software). Thanks Adobe Groups!

Digital Media Artists \ Los Angeles

Digital Media Artists / Los Angeles (DMA/LA) is an association for professionals creating imagery for video, film, and other media using desktop tools. MGLA was formed in August 1997 through the merger of several previously-existing groups. DMA/LA is an extention of that - continuing in 2008. DMA/LA's area of discussions are not restricted to a specific hardware or software solution, understanding that an artist often has to employ 2D, 3D, and other digital tools to realize their vision - and that artistic inspiration can be universal.
