NEW TOPICS FOR EACH SESSION! (Uber conference 651.300.5500) March 3rd, 2014 at 8am to 9:30am Micro Inequities: The Power of Nothing -This work session explores the impact of the small annoying things that people do that when asked about the appropriateness of the comment, joke or look will be met with the response, “that was nothing”. The more those “nothings” are give the more difficult it becomes to create an atmosphere of respect and effectiveness. We will explore the impact of micro aggressions, micro inequity and tools for establishing macro empowerment. Objectives: Learn information that analyzes stereotypes and prejudice. Understand the historical context of present day prejudice and inequities. Explore the impact of Micro Inequities on discretionary effort.  Envision a society in which Micro Inequities do not exist. identify personal actions to address Micro Inequities. “Through innovative and interactive diversity education, personal empowerment, and team building, we help individuals and organizations approach old problems with new solutions.” We help Government and Educational organizations manage and train staff, employees, and clients on diversity issues without blame, fault or guilt. We understand that people are doing the best they can with what they have. Yet we encourage them to examine themselves, explore other cultures, and become allies for others. We work to move people's behaviors not by pushing them or making them feel guilty. We dissect, analyze, and make meaning of the issues that challenge us in a fair, balanced way that people can hear and understand. We motivate individuals to create something collaboratively.
