Amidst the coast redwood forests that predominated on the western Santa Cruz Mountains lie scattered outcroppings of sand. Derived from an ancient sea floor, these Sandhills are home to several plants and animals that are found nowhere else in the world. In this talk, Dr. Jodi McGraw will explore the natural history and ecology of the Sandhills, and highlight efforts by the Land Trust and its partners to conserve this local treasure. More information about the Sandhills can be found at www.santacruzsandhills.com.
