Disco for Dance
Saturday, April 20, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM (CDT)
New Orleans, LA
Hope Stone New Orleans is hosting Disco for Dance!, a gala event, on April 20, 2013 from 6:00-10:00pm at NOLA Spaces for community members interested in ensuring that art is accessible for all. We are aiming to raise $10,000 to provide scholarships for New Orleanian youth to participate in our arts program at NOLA Spaces, the renovated firehouse located at 1719 Toledano. Costumes are strongly encouraged.
Festivities will begin at 6pm with a red carpet entrance and patron party for VIPs. Doors will open for general admission at 6:30. Guests will enjoy hors d’oeuvres and libations from Atchafalaya, Martinique Bistro, Pigeon Caterers, Chef David Slater, Patios, Firehouse Café, N.O. Brew and NOLA Brewery.
Hope Stone scholarship students will perform a theater and dance show at 7:00pm. This performance is a culmination of all they’ve learned in their theater collaboration, modern choreography, and hip hop classes – not to be missed! Immediately following the performance, The Hope Angel Award will be awarded to the Partnership for Youth Development for 3 years of successful partnership with Hope Stone New Orleans. At 7:30, Hope Stone New Orleans will offer a Hustle Dance Lesson to all attendees. Our talented DJ Derek Mmost will spin our disco favorites and set the dance floor on fire! Throughout the night, raffle girls dressed in raffle ticket fringe costumes will be selling tickets right off their dresses until there’s nothing left for our “Mystery Nothing Raffle.”
The rollicking self-proclaimed “power trio”, Single Atom Theory will perform from 8:30 – 9:30!
The evening will come to an end with a very special Disco Dance performance by the raffle girls…if and only if they have nothing left to sell.
General and VIP admission are available. VIP perks include: a red carpet entrance, photo taken by a professional photographer, a private make up artist will be available, a mixologist who will be crafting specialty cocktails, and a customized gift which will include an original piece of art from a Hope Stone student. For the price of a VIP ticket, one child will receive a full 15 week program scholarship. Each VIP will receive a hand written thank you letter from their young artist. General admission includes local libation, cuisine and dancing. General admission: $75. VIP: $250
When & Where
Hope Stone New Orleans
Hope Stone Kids New Orleans is in its fourth year of providing high-quality arts education to hundreds of underserved youth in New Orleans. We serve children ages 0-18 at NOLA Spaces performance and rehearsal studios and as part of schools and community centers around town. Skilled master teachers and artists train students in dance, music, theater, film, visual art, and creative writing, providing young participants with an arts education that builds self-esteem, confidence and the skills that children need to be the next generation of creative thinkers and problem solvers. The students also gain a greater knowledge of New Orleans’ rich arts culture and heritage while expanding their own individual creativity and self-expression.
