Disaster!

Here in New Hampshire, ice storms, flooding, and other weather-related events tend to get the most attention, when it comes to disasters that interrupt the natural course of business.

That's just the tip of the iceberg, though. Many other unexpected situations can affect your ability to do what you do best. What happens to your business when:

  • Your web host or ISP goes down for hours?
  • A tree falls on the power lines?
  • Computers crash?
  • Key personnel steal sensitive information?
  • Your office gets broken into and robbed or vandalized?

Oh my! The list could go on and on. But rather than focus on all the ways that things can go wrong, this is your opportunity to help ensure that things continue to go right for your business, even under the most trying of circumstances.

This half-day "Disaster Strikes!" event features business-focused workshops on how to plan for, survive, and recover in the aftermath of a disaster. Topics include:

  • Business operations
  • Media outreach and training
  • Online and social networking communication

Additionally, the event features an Emergency Response Panel, where you can ask questions of local professionals tasked with assisting your business when disaster strikes. Attendees will also receive materials they can use to help plan an effective response to disasters affecting their own businesses.

A joint initiative of USDA Rural Development and the NH Division of Economic Development, this workshop will be co-presented by four New Hampshire companies - Cogent Solutions, PingPR, Montagne Communications, and Epiphanies, Inc.

In Coos County, our local partner for this event is White Mountains Community College. As a Community College providing quality education in the North Country since 1966, they are fully accredited by the New England Association of Schools and colleges as a comprehensive community college. Their main campus is located in Berlin, and they have academic centers in Conway, Littleton, and Woodsville, with all locations offering credit courses that you can take advantage of to further your career choices. They are your affordable education option to advancing your skills. Visit them on the web at http://www.wmcc.edu.

While this workshop is free, space is limited to 50 attendees, so register now!
