This workshop will assist administrators, district managers, risk managers and human resources staff understand the meaning of "disaster service worker," the California Emergency Services Act, and State and Federal declarations of emergency.  The workshop will also teach participants:
 
  • to register employees as disaster service workers
  • to identify job duties as disaster service workers
  • to assess when to pay for disaster services and
  • to evaluate when immunity exists for performing disaster services.

The workshop will also discuss workers' compensation benefits for injuries sustained in performing disaster service and issues related to convergent volunteers.
