Event Details

DGDG is proud to premiere a new immersive dance work, "Dirty Filthy Diamonds," at the Margo Jones Theatre in Fair Park in Dallas, Texas, February 26-March 8, 2014!

We are the Dirty Filthy Diamonds. Beautiful. Strange. Divine. Hungry. Through vignettes that explore isolated moments in relationships, an over-arching movement aesthetic is created to establish the environment and physical vocabulary. "Dirty Filthy Diamonds" takes this dance company out of the theatre, twisting it in all the right ways, and thrusting it right back in.

Choreographed by Danielle Georgiou, in collaboration with Justin Locklear (script and set design), Jermy Elizabeth Johnson (composer), Hillary Holsonback (graphic and makeup design), Emily Loving (graphic design and set design), "Dirty Filthy Diamonds" presents the perverse honesty of humanity.

DGDG: The Danielle Georgiou Dance Group

DGDG: the Danielle Georgiou Dance Group was founded in 2011 by Danielle Georgiou, and is a dance theatre group that works within the ideas of contemporary dance and physical theatre. DGDG’s work reflects Georgiou’s interest in social and psychological issues, and in creating compelling images of a “new female.” The works break with the tradition of contemporary dance and tend to be more conceptual or narrative-driven. Whether collaborating or defining her own work, Georgiou wants dancers that constantly strive to transform themselves, either in image or skill. Technique is your foundation—not your identity. Learn more about DGDG at www.dgdgdancegoup.com

The Dallas Observer recently named DGDG Best Dance Troupe in their 2015 Best of Awards, and DGDG received three awards from the 2015 Dallas Fort Worth Theater Critics Forum Awards—The Show About Men won Best New Play or Musical and was cited for Outstanding Creative Contribution or Design for Choreography, NICE was also cited for Outstanding Creative Contribution or Design for Choreography. DGDG’s 2014 season was listed as one of the top highlights of dance in Dallas in 2014 by The Dallas Morning News, TheaterJones, and Art&Seek, and in both 2014 and 2015 DGDG was nominated as Best Dance Company by D Magazine in their annual Best of Big D series. The Dallas Morning News named DGDG’s 2012-2013 season as one of the Best Dance Performances of 2013, and Critical Rant named Georgiou Outstanding Female Director of 2012. Recently, Georgiou was named one of TheaterJones’ Forward Thinkers for 2015.
