Event Details

The La Mar Wine Dinner Series was created to showcase the acclaimed cuisine of Peru as crafted by Gastón Acurio and the wines from California, Spain and South America. The event is designed to bring people who love wine and Peruvian food together at La Mar San Francisco with the stunning San Francisco Bay as our backdrop.

On August 14th, 2014, we are honored to feature the wines of Master Sommelier, Emmanuel Kemiji. His winery Clos Pissarra, produce exciting wines from the highly acclaimed Montsant (Sacred Mountain in Catalan) and  Priorat (Priory) regions of Spain which are located about 85 miles southwest of Barcelona.  The name Clos Pissarra is derived from the Catalan word for “slate” the soil type that covers this region and gives the wines their characteristic taste. This dinner is particularly special to us at La Mar because Emmanuel, is not only one of our favorite winemakers, but  also our Wine Director.

We will be showcasing seven of Emmanuel’s wines for this dinner paired with Peruvian delicacies fashioned by our chef Danny Kou. In this unique dinner format, we will be pairing two wines with three of the five courses to give our guests an opportunity to sample a wide range of Spanish wines, to learn more about wine pairing and to decide which type of wine they believe best matches the featured dishes.
