Digital DUMBO #21 - Good vs. Evil: BBMG’s Big Brand Showdown
Thursday, October 28, 2010 from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM (EDT)
Brooklyn, United States
Aaaaaaare youuuuuu ready to rumble?
This world is made up of two kinds of brands. First, there are those that are full of sugar and spice and everything nice. They’re amazing to employees. Their visual identities kick ass. They have armies of loyal followers constantly buzzing about them online. And, with everything going on, they still find the time to drive positive social change or help protect the environment. You know…the real goody-goodies.
Then, we have the dirty, rotten, no-good scoundrels. They try to convince you they’re one of the good guys and hope you don’t see through their antics. They’re always making inauthentic claims or trying to boost their image with stick-on cause marketing. They couldn’t engage a consumer to save their own lives. They run and hide at the first whiff of a challenge or crisis. If this were Communications High School, they would be the evil cheerleaders that pretend to be your best friend.
On Thursday, October 28th, join BBMG at the Dumbo Loft, where we’ll pit the good brands against the bad brands and only the strong will survive. Where else can you enter to win a “Sugar and Spice” or “Mischief and Vice” gift basket full of local treats, toast your coworkers with a frosty brew and arm-wrestle your office neighbors for morning elevator run-in bragging rights?
As Hulk Hogan would say, “Say your prayers and take your vitamins.” It’s time for a big brand showdown. We hope to see you there.

"Situated in an ivy-laden old townhouse with pristine views of the BK Bridge and a big ol' back yard, PO's old neighborhood haunt vibe backs up Peking duck burritos, disco fries, braised short rib & white cheddar grilled cheeses, and multiple specialty burgers including a mint-ketchup-topped lamb burger filled w/ goat cheese, but not scapegoat cheese, as everyone saw you eat those disco fries." - Thrillist

What do Cadillac, Hello Kitty, and the Greenbay Packers have in common? Well, not much other than that they all have mobile apps built on top of the Parse Cloud! Parse, acquired by Facebook in 2013, adds a scalable and powerful backend to mobile apps eliminating the need to worry about server maintenance. In this edition of dd:COLLECTIVE we'll not only talk about the nitty-gritty of app development but also explore strategies for leveraging the Facebook ad platform to grow user bases and take any app to the masses!
