The advancement of digital technologies has enabled the creation of devices that can monitor and analyze your body's vital functions, a huge improvement over early health monitoring devices, like the traditional home scale. Nirav Sheth | Director of Market Development, Medical, MC10 Inc.
Nirav "Rav" Sheth joined MC10 in 2013 as the head of Market Development for the Medical sector. Rav has built a cross-functional career path across a variety of industries, with a consistent focus on commercializing ground-breaking medical technologies. Early on, he received an introduction to microelectronic packaging at IBM's T.J. Watson Research Center. After four year stints at General Electric and McKinsey and Company, Rav made the transition into the medical device arena. Progressing through roles of increasing responsibility at multiple medical device companies, he has led teams in operations, regulatory compliance, strategic marketing, and commercial marketing. Rav was responsible for driving the global launch of carotid stenting at Cordis Corporation and the formation of a new therapeutic endoscopy group at Olympus Corporation. Most recently, Rav led Marketing for St. Jude Medical's Vascular and Structural Heart businesses in the Americas. Rav has a B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering from Columbia University, an M.S. in Materials Science from the University of Texas, and an M.B.A. and M. Eng. Mgmt. from Northwestern University.
Rick Beberman | Digital Health and Health IT Investment and Corporate Development Professional
Rick Beberman has an extensive background in health information technology and digital health. He is currently a digital health advisor to the Catalyst Award Program at the Clinical & Translational Science Institute at UCSF and the Science Translation and Innovative Research (STAIR) program at UC, Davis. Rick is a member of the advisory boards of Trinity Health, a portfolio company of UCSF's Center for Digital Health Innovation that has developed a virtual meeting room to for multidisciplinary medical teams, and Sense.ly, an early stage digital health company that has developed a telehealth-based virtual assistant to help clinicians better manage chronically ill patients. For four years Rick was a venture associate with Health Care Investment Visions, an organization that invests in early-stage health information technology companies and also led business development for one of its portfolio companies. Prior to Rick's involvement with Health Care Investment Visions, he co-founded a company that developed software to help primary care doctors make more effective patient diagnoses. For fifteen years, Rick was an investment banker with the North American affiliate of NM Rothschild & Sons and later with Banc of America Securities where he advised clients on mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, and capital raising.

Ashwin Ram is Area Manager & Chief Innovation Officer, Interactive Intelligence, leading a team to invent new technologies that make people smarter, particularly in consumer health and wellness. His research expertise includes artificial intelligence and cognitive science -- spanning natural language processing, case-based reasoning, machine learning, educational technology, social media, and AI applications. His latest project is Fittle, a mobile app that helps people adopt healthier lifestyles.
Daniel Kraft, MD | Faculty Chair for Medicine, Singularity University, Founding Executive Director, FutureMed/ Exponential Medicine
Daniel Kraft is a Stanford and Harvard trained physician-scientist, inventor, entrepreneur, and innovator. With over 20 years of experience in clinical practice, biomedical research and healthcare innovation, Kraft has chaired the Medicine Track for Singularity University since SU's inception, and founded and is Executive Director of Exponential Medicine, a program that explores convergent, rapidly developing technologies and their potential in biomedicine and healthcare.
Following undergraduate degrees from Brown University and medical school at Stanford, Daniel was Board Certified in both Internal Medicine & Pediatrics after completing a Harvard residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital & Boston Children's Hospital, and fellowships in hematology, oncology and bone marrow transplantation at Stanford.
He has multiple patents on medical device, immunology and stem cell related patents through faculty positions with Stanford University School of Medicine and as clinical faculty for the pediatric bone marrow transplantation service at University of California, San Francisco.
Daniel's academic research has focused on: stem cell biology and regenerative medicine, stem cell derived immunotherapies for cancer, bioengineering human T-cell differentiation, and humanized animal models. Clinical work focuses on: bone marrow / hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for malignant and non-malignant diseases in adults and children, medical devices to enable stem cell based regenerative medicine, including marrow derived stem cell harvesting, processing and delivery. He also implemented the first text-paging system at Stanford Hospital.
Dr. Kraft recently founded Bioniq Health, focused on enabling connected, data driven, and integrated personalized medicine. He is also the inventor of the MarrowMiner, an FDA approved device for the minimally invasive harvest of bone marrow, and founded RegenMed Systems, a company developing technologies to enable adult stem cell based regenerative therapies.
Daniel is an avid pilot and has served in the Massachusetts and California Air National Guard as an officer and flight surgeon with an F-16 fighter Squadron. He has conducted research on aerospace medicine that was published with NASA, with whom he was a finalist for astronaut selection.
Casper de Clercq | Partner, Norwest Venture Partners [moderator]
With over 30 years of experience, Casper is a veteran of the medical device and life sciences industry. He brings extensive operating knowledge to Norwest Venture Partners having led marketing and commercialization efforts for cardiovascular device, specialty pharmaceutical, and diagnostic companies. Casper focuses on mid-to-late-stage investments in medical devices, specialty pharmaceuticals, healthcare services, and healthcare IT. Along with his current board seats at Intersect ENT, iRhythm Technologies, and Simpirica Spine, Casper has invested in Misfit Wearables. He was previously on the board of Basis (acquired by Intel).

JLABS, part of Johnson & Johnson Innovation, LLC, is a network of life science incubators providing emerging companies many of the advantages of being in a big company, without the capital investment. JLABS offers singular bench tops, modular wet lab units and office space on a short-term basis, allowing companies to pay only for the space they need, with an option to quickly expand when they have the resources to do so. Companies residing at JLABS also have access to core research labs hosting specialized capital equipment and shared administrative areas. JLABS is an open innovation model, and the agreement for space does not grant JLABS or Johnson & Johnson Innovation any stake or rights in the companies, nor will the companies have a guaranteed future affiliation with JLABS.
