Digging Deeper into Text Types and Purposes in Informative/Explanatory Writing in the Common Core for Grades K-5

Delve into W.1.2 by examining the grade level anchor standard in informative/explanatory writing across grades K-5. Participants will have the opportunity to develop pre-assessment pieces for informative/explanatory units in the spirit of Writing Workshop, gather and write immersion pieces with traits germane to informational writing, map out mini-lessons for the unit, use student writing samples as text exemplars and form post-assessment pieces.
