Join Grow Team ONE (Old North End) and Slow Food Vermont in Burlington for a work day at Riverside Neighborhood Garden, Burlington's newest community garden. WE ARE LOOKING FOR A FEW GOOD VOLUNTEERS! P.S. There will be good eats throughout the day to munch on as you work!
OBJECTIVE: Join in this national Slow Food volunteer day to help build a tool shed, shade structure, and water catchment system. Other projects include planting perennials and building an archway entrance to the garden. All projects are led and structured by folks on-site. All skill-sets welcome!
WHO: Grow Team ONE is a grassroots community organization in Burlington, VT that cultivates leadership and learning through gardening. The all-volunteer group is a resource for residents who want to learn about growing, harvesting and preserving food; facilitates the creation of sustainable home and neighborhood gardens; and aims to increase access to fresh produce in the Old North End. Grow Team ONE oversees the Archibald Neighborhood Garden and Riverside Neighborhood Garden, which provide safe, affordable garden space for 33 households and 4 youth groups.
Slow Food Vermont is a local chapter of the largest food organization in the world. Slow Food USA seeks to create dramatic and lasting change in the food system. We reconnect Americans with the people, traditions, plants, animals, fertile soils and waters that produce our food. We seek to inspire a transformation in food policy, production practices and market forces so that they ensure equity, sustainability and pleasure in the food we eat.
